Born to a second hand guitar in October 2001, Mz Ann Thropik has been playing Australia wide now for over five years. Starting off as a punk rock riot grrl band, shifting through heavy rock influences and adding a little sassy gothabilly, she's become her own sound. Her live shows are an equivalent to having your heart ripped out and served to you on a silver platter.
A whimsical personality with a sugar coated voice rapidly changes into a vicious wind up doll caught in a hurricane. Her stage antiques, like stage diving and straddling people in the audience whist still singing or jumping on top of flour covered bassist Tiggrrr and getting back up with a split lip add breath taking moments to her performance.
Five years and finally releasing her debut EP “A Silent Scream” 28th April 07, she has cultivated a large fan base Australia and World Wide through the internet, myspace, press, featuring on the cover of Goth magazine Fiend and recently as poster girl for Twisted Poster Magazine.
The beauty of Mz Ann Thropik is that over the past five years she has become such a cult figure that people of all sub cultures come along to the shows, dance and sing along just from hearing her music on the internet, or from being intrigued by her image.
Through this she has started her own army called The Tiger Hat Army, where fans of the band are encourage to wear tiger hats to show their strength and belief in themselves and hear themselves ROARRRRRRRRRRR!
Her fan base is so strong that people from all around Australia input to Mz Ann Thropik and share her dream, whether it be via imagery, photography, website design, street teaming or just showing up at shows regularly.
She has packed out venues across Australia Inc. The Annandale, The Metro, The Marquee and Melbourne’s Switch just to name a few, reached highest ranking of unsigned alternative, gothic and punk musician in Australia on Myspace and is currently promoting and touring her debut EP – with “A Silent Scream” in a city near you!
